Episode 15: Vintage Search Engines and NYC Vintage Maps (with Liisa Jokinen of the Gem App)

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

On Episode 15 of The Hand Me Up Club, Lindsay speaks with sustainable, Finnish icon, Liisa Jokinen about the creation of the Gem App, the first search engine dedicated to vintage and thrift. Gem currently has 8 million+ items listed and was born from the idea of looking for specific vintage items.

Liisa also created the NYC Vintage Map, after she first moved to America and wanted to record and rank the vintage thrift scene in New York. Lindsay and Liisa go over some of their favorite thrift stores in NYC and talk about how Liisa’s Scandinavian culture influenced her personal consumption.
